Calvin Abueva return pushed back due to calf injury
Calvin Abueva’s hardcourt return has been further postponed due to a calf injury.
According to Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero, Abueva has strained his calf muscle, which means he will have to sit out more games in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup.
Abueva did not see action in the Hotshots’ first four games of the season as he had surgery to remove hemorrhoids before the season started.
The 2013 PBA Rookie of the Year had already resumed practicing after recovering from the surgery, but he has now been sidelined once again, this time due to a calf injury.
Abueva has already been through a calf injury before, not just once. In the 46th season PBA Governors’ Cup in February 2022, he suffered a similar injury that caused him to miss seven games.
However, the Hotshots are not in a hurry to bring Abueva back on the court. With their import Tyler Bey performing exceptionally well, Magnolia has secured victories in their first four games of the season. This impressive start has placed them in sole possession of first place in the standings, boasting a perfect 4-0 win-loss record.
Looking ahead, the Hotshots are set to face NLEX on Friday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City, aiming to maintain their winning streak.
