Magnolia made it 10 of 10 in the 11th hour of its PBA On Tour stint with a 111-91 whipping of Phoenix Super LPG Sunday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
Jio Jalalon and Mark Barroca led the charge as the Hotshots bucked the Fuel Masters’ hot three-point shooting to keep a perfect run with a game to go in the preseason series presented by Arena Plus and sponsored by Bingo Plus.
Coach Chito Victolero and his crew go for a sweet sweep or a perfect 11-0 card as they tangle with the Terrafirma Dyip Wednesday in the same San Juan playing venue.
Jalalon poured in 22 points on top of nine assists and four rebounds while Barroca tossed in 19 markers going with five boards and the same number of dish-offs as the Hotshots sustained their spotless run even in the absence of some key players like Paul Lee and Ian Sangalang.
Returning Aris Dionisio put in solid help with 15 points and eight rebounds while Jerrick Ahanmisi chipped in 11 markers for the Hotshots who banked on a 45-percent overall clip to endure the Fuel Masters’ 16 three-pointers.
The Fuel Masters rallied from a 22-point deficit and stayed within striking distance in the second half with a 16-of-44 three-pointers as against the Hotshots’ 9-of-36 clip.
But Phoenix couldn’t get the job done and instead reeled to a fifth straight loss for a closing 3-8 win-loss card.
