Magnolia def Rain or Shine, 108-102 [PBA S48 PH Cup | Apr. 20, 2024]

In a thrilling showdown between Magnolia and Rain or Shine, the Hotshots emerged victorious with a 108-102 win in a heated match-up in Tiaong, Quezon.

Ian Sangalang put on a stellar performance, recording a double-double and leading six of his teammates to reach double figures in scoring.

This impressive victory extended Magnolia’s winning streak to four games, propelling them to solo second in the PBA Philippine Cup standings with a 5-2 record, just behind the undefeated San Miguel Beer.

Mark Barroca continued his impressive form with 18 points, nine assists, and seven rebounds, while Aris Dionisio, Paul Lee, Jed Mendoza, and Joseph Eriobu also contributed significantly to the team’s success. Despite Rain or Shine’s valiant effort to stage a comeback after falling behind by 11 points at halftime, Magnolia stood firm and snapped their opponent’s five-game winning streak.

Paul Lee may have struggled from beyond the arc, but he still managed to join the elite club of players with 1,000 made three-pointers, showcasing his shooting prowess.

However, it was Sangalang who shined the brightest with another outstanding performance following his return from injury. Mendoza’s clutch three-pointer also played a crucial role in fending off Rain or Shine’s late surge, highlighting his growth as a key player for the Hotshots.

On the other side, Adrian Nocum led Rain or Shine with 19 points, supported by notable contributions from Santi Santillan, Beau Belga, Gian Mamuyac, and Andrei Caracut.
