Val Acuna returns home to Purefoods franchise via PBA 3×3

After a six-year absence from the PBA, Val Acuña will make his return to the league.

But this time around, the 13th overall pick of the 2010 PBA Draft will play for Purefoods Tender Juicy in the league’s inaugural 3×3 tournament scheduled to kick off on November 20 kick-off at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig..

Acuña last played for the Purefood franchise in 2014. He won four titles with the then Tim Cone-mentored squad.

Aside from the 35-year-old winger, the Titans consist of Pao Javelona, Jun Bonsubre, Jed Mendoza, and Joseph Eriobu. They are taken in charge by Magnolia assistant coach Tony Boy Espinosa and Paul Sorongon.

Javelona and Eriobu have already played 5-on-5 basketball in the PBA, whereas Bonsubre and Mendoza were selected by NorthPort and NLEX, respectively, in the 2021 PBA Draft but failed to receive a contract.

Following his stint with Purefoods, Acuña suited up for the Batang Pier in 2014 and Blackwater in 2015.

He later played for Pilipinas MX3 Kings and Alab Pilipinas in the Asean Basketball League.

In 2018 to 2019, the former UE Red Warrior joined the Batangas City Tanduay Athletics and Valuenzuela Classic in Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

Acuña became a part of MJAS-Zenith Talisay in the 2021 Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup. Unfortunately, the Aquastars lost to KCS-Mandaue in the championship round.
