Magnolia vs Blackwater | PBA Season 47 Philippine Cup

The PBA Philippine Cup elimination round comes to a close with the Blackwater-Magnolia tussle Friday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, with much focus on the Bossing’s fate.

“Whatever will be at stake for us, we’ll go for it,” said Blackwater coach Ariel Vanguardia.

For Magnolia (7-3) is all set to figure in a best-of-three quarterfinals series while Blackwater is still chasing the best finish it could get in the elims.

Currently at joint sixth place with NLEX at 5-5, the Bossing may be taking a shot at a Top Six finish or will just try to avoid eighth spot, depending on the result of the earlier match between the Road Warriors and the NorthPort Batang Pier at 3 p.m.

The Bossing and the Hotshots clash at 6 p.m. to close the elims phase where San Miguel Beer, TNT, Magnolia, Barangay Ginebra, Meralco, NLEX, Blackwater and Converge emerged as the top eight that will advance to the playoffs.

Yet to be determined, though, is the final seedings for the playoff matchups.

A win by the Road Warriors over the Batang Pier will automatically close the Top Six door on the Bossing. And it would mean Blackwater facing a twice-to-beat rival in its first quarterfinals appearance in five conferences.
