WATCH: Magnolia vs Phoenix Game Highlights [PBA S48 Comm’s Cup | Nov. 12, 2023]

Magnolia kept its perfect run all the way from the preseason, going 2-0 in the season proper with a 107-92 rout of Phoenix Super LPG at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo Sunday.

From a 110-102 drubbing of the TNT Tropang Giga, the Hotshots roared on with a sustained romp anchored on import Tyler Bey and the guard combo of Jio Jalalon, Mark Barroca and Paul Lee.

Magnolia and Phoenix actually fought to a 22-all deadlock in the opening quarter and to a 51-all logjam at the half before the Hotshots pummeled the Fuel Masters hard in the next two quarters on the way to tying the Meralco Bolts in pole position at 2-0.

The Bolts are in a start under coach Luigi Trillo with wins over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, 107-102, and the Blackwater Elite, 91-84.

The Hotshots kept abreast with the Bolts while riding high on the exploits of Bey, Jalalon, Barroca and Lee who combined for over three-fourths of the team’s output.

Bey, a former Dallas Maverick in the NBA, dished out an even better showing than his 31-20 PBA debut, coming through with 32 markers and 16 rebounds plus three steals to lead the Magnolia juggernaut versus the Fuel Masters who were led by Jonathan Williams III with 26 points and 13 rebounds.

And as in their first game, the Hotshots also drew ample production from their ace locals with Jalalon firing away 20 points on top of eight rebounds and three assists, Barroca collecting 15 markers and eight assists, and Lee piling up 13 points, two rebounds and two assists.
