WATCH: Paul Lee wins 2023 PBA All-Star 3-point Shootout competition!
Hours before hitting the City of Passi Arena’s court for the PBA All-Stars 3-Point Shootout, Magnolia’s Paul Lee had the best “pahiyang” he could get – from the PBA’s legendary gunner no less, Allan Caidic.
“Nakasabay ko si coach Allan kanina sa breakfast sa hotel, sabi ko pahawak ng kamay para manalo tayo dito,” he said, smiling.
Channeling “the Triggerman” who was watching at the commissioner’s row, Lee gunned down 28 points in the championship round to beat San Miguel’s Marcio Lassiter (21) and Terrafirma’s Juami Tiongson (18) for the coveted plum.
The Magnolia Hotshot later posed for a triumphant photo with Caidic, remembering the good luck he got from their earlier meeting.
Lee, who finished third in the pre-finals with 22 points behind Lassiter’s 28 and Tiongson’s 26, saved his best for last and boosted his golden bid by drilling in all five colored balls in one rack and one of the two money-balls, worth four points.
Lee banked P30,000 for topping the contest, which featured the top shooters of all the 12 teams.
