Aris Dionisio signs fresh three-year deal with Magnolia

Magnolia has locked-up the services of its most efficient three-point shooter for the remainder of the season and beyond.

On Tuesday, the Hotshots announced the signing of Aris Dionisio to a new contract that will last for three years. This contract was finalized just before the team’s upcoming PBA Philippine Cup campaign, which will begin on Saturday against Converge at the historic Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Dionisio has proven himself as Magnolia’s top shooter from long range, boasting an impressive 39.6 percent accuracy from beyond the arc during the previous Commissioner’s Cup. This performance helped the Hotshots reach the finals, where they finished as the runners-up to the San Miguel Beermen.

His shooting percentage places him at the sixth spot in the league, surpassing star guard Paul Lee, who now ranks second for Magnolia with a 39.2 percent accuracy from beyond the arc.

The contract signing ceremony was attended by head coach Chito Victolero, Magnolia liaison officer Reena Dimaculangan Del Mundo, and long-time staff member Jojo Peralta. Dionisio was accompanied by his representative, Danny Espiritu.

Dionisio, who stands at 6-foot-4 and hails from Saint Clare College, was a first-round pick for Magnolia in the 2019 draft, selected as the ninth overall.

In the recent Commissioner’s Cup Finals, Dionisio came close to leading his team to a decisive Game 7, but unfortunately missed a potential game-winning three-pointer just before the final buzzer.

Prior to this contract signing, Dionisio, a former member of the MPBL Mythical Team and the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 4.5 points and 2.7 rebounds during the opening conference of the league’s 48th season.
