Hotshots target 8th win vs skidding Dyip
Magnolia aims to recover from its crushing loss last weekend as they face the skidding Terrafirma Dyip in the PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup today at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The game is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
After an impressive seven-game winning streak to begin the season-opening conference, the Hotshots suffered their first defeat last Saturday against the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, with a final score of 113-110 in Cagayan de Oro City.
Magnolia still has a solid chance of securing one of the top four slots, which grants them the advantage of a twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals.
Under the guidance of coach Chito Victolero, the Hotshots are expected to channel their frustration towards the Dyip, who have lost their last four games. The Hotshots are still on top of the team standings with 7-1 record while the Dyip are mired in 9th spot with 2-5 card.
Terrafirma suffered a 103-94 overtime defeat in their previous match against Converge.
The Dyip find themselves in a crucial position where they must secure a victory, as another loss could greatly diminish their chances of making it to the playoffs.
Terrafirma’s upcoming games in the elimination round will pose a significant challenge, as they are set to face tough opponents in Rain or Shine, San Miguel Beer, and Meralco.
