Magnolia def Terrafirma, 106-92 [PBA on Tour | July 26, 2023]

Unbeaten Magnolia is bent on keeping its foot firmly on the pedal to complete a sweep of the PBA On Tour.

That news hardly daunts the Terrafirma Dyip, who are also eyeing a strong finish in the pre-season tournament — presented by Arena Plus and sponsored by Bingo Plus — when they clash with the rampaging Hotshots Wednesday at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

The Dyip are gunning for a second straight win and a 5-6 slate, which ordinarily would be enough to at least tie them for a quarterfinals slot in the regular season.

Terrafirma coach Johnedel Cardel has said his team intends to put in the work and give it a chance to at least keep pace with Magnolia. “Alam naman nating malakas talaga kalaban, pero tough challenge na kapag nalagpasan namin napakalaking bagay para sa confidence at morale namin,” he offered.

The 10-0 Hotshots, however, should prove to be a very huge roadblock since they are determined to stay on the track laid down by coach Chito Victolero and his staff even before the tournament kicked off May 21.

“Every game naman ang goal namin is to win,” said Victolero, who takes pride in the commitment and sense of purpose his players have shown so far in the joust they are treating as main preparation for the regular season that starts Oct. 15.

“Alam naman namin na ang talagang labanan sa October pero ‘yung preparation namin nag-start na with this tournament,” added Victolero.
