Barangay Ginebra completed the quarterfinal cast after beating NorthPort, 21-16, in the knockout battle for the eighth and last seat between the third-ranked squads of Pools B and C Sunday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

The Gin Kings crew of Jollo Go, Hubert Cani, Mikey Cabahug, and Denice Villamor knocked down eight two-point baskets to set the tone for the crucial win and advance to the KO stages via the backdoor.

Ginebra joined the outright qualifiers – Pool A topnotcher Tnt Tropang Giga (4-0), No. 2 Platinum Karaoke (3-1) and Purefoods TJ Titans (2-2), Pool B Top 2 Meralco Bolts (3-0) and Terrafirma (2-1) and Pool C’s San Miguel Beer (2-1) and Cavitex (2-1) – in the first-ever playoffs of the three-a-side hoopfest.

The do-or-die Final 8 pits the Dyip versus the Titans, the Bolts versus the Braves, the Tropang Giga versus the Gin Kings and the Beermen versus Platinum.
