Meralco def Magnolia, 85-80 [PBA S48 Comm’s Cup | Jan. 6, 2024]
Magnolia tries to seal claim of top spot while Meralco, with new import Shonn Miller, eyes boost on its Top 4 aspiration as they slug it out in a PBA Commissioner’s Cup Saturday road game in Iloilo City.
The Hotshots go for a runaway 10-1 closing card in the elims while the Bolts seek to muddle up the positioning on top in their 6:30 p.m. dispute at the University of San Agustin Gym.
Magnolia is returning from a long 13-day breather, but coach Chito Victolero is optimistic they have done their assignment to be ready to finish the elims on a winning note.
They have long booked a Top 4 finish and claimed a twice-to-beat incentive for the quarterfinals, but they’re determined to sustain a winning momentum to the post-elims play.
Get the Iloilo victory and the Hotshots also secure the No. 1 seeding, to be ranged against the eighth seed in the quarterfinals.
But the Bolts have their own pressing thing in mind.
And with a health issue on Zach Lofton, the Bolts have decided to bring in Miller as they pursue a bid to land a spot in the Magic 4.
