Magnolia def TNT, 96-63 [PBA on Tour | June 16, 2023]
Even with Paul Lee taking a rest, the Magnolia Hotshots stayed at work and kept a perfect run with a 96-63 lashing of the TNT Tropang Giga in PBA on Tour at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig Friday night.
The Hotshots shook off a slow start and bamboozled the Tropang Giga in the last three quarters in posting win No. 5 after earlier triumphs over Blackwater (117-83), Converge (99-95), NLEX (103-97) and Ginebra (91-80).
The Tropang Giga, meanwhile, slid to a third straight loss in the preseason series, presented by Arena Plus and sponsored by Bingo Plus, where they are without top guns Jayson Castro, Mikey Williams, Kelly Williams, Poy Errams and others.
Rome dela Rosa, Joseph Eriobu, Mark Barroca, James Laput, David Murrell and Jerrick Ahanmisi shared the load for the Hotshots as they worked on a decisive 28-13 tear in the second quarter to start the rout.
They sustained the pace through the third canto then stepped on the pedal harder for the mop-up job.
Dela Rosa top scored with 19 points while Laput had an 11-point and 13-rebound double-double effort for the Hotshots who closed out the lopsided match with a 31-11 juggernaut in the fourth.
The massive Magnolia attack saw Eriobu scoring 14 points off the bench and the trio of Barroca, Ahanmisi and Murrell contributing 11 apiece.
