TNT def Magnolia, 93-85 [PBA S47 Govs’ Cup | Feb. 3, 2023]

Barely missed shots at the buzzer sealed the defeats by the TNT Tropang Giga and the Magnolia Hotshots in their recent outings.

RR Pogoy failed to convert a turnaround shot off Tony Semerad in their 110-108 loss to NLEX Wednesday while the Hotshots fell short in a comeback bid versus the Converge FiberXers (111-109) on a missed three-pointer by import Eric McCree Sunday.

From those close losses, the Tropang Giga and the Hotshots go for a turnaround win in their 5:45 p.m. dispute in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Friday.

Jaylen Hudson and his TNT teammates should have been at pole spot with Converge at 3-0 if not bungling a 15-point spread in the face of the Road Warriors’ searing fourth-quarter rally.

“I think we just got to finish stronger. We had a couple of lapses towards the end,” rued Hudson as TNT suffered a first loss in three starts under coach Jojo Lastimosa.

Hudson engaged Jonathon Simmons in a fiery shootout, but the TNT import had his lapses in their endgame collapse. He accounted for seven of TNT’s 20 turnovers.

Meanwhile, the Hotshots had their own searing fightback that fell short on a flubbed three-pointer by McCree at the buzzer against the FiberXers.
